Overview
We will be spending two nights in the Arizona desert during the peak of the Geminids learning how to capture this spectacular event. This workshop is perfect for beginner astrophotographers looking to take the next step in astro, as well as more advanced photographers looking to learn more about how to capture and combine a group of meteors captured throughout the night into one single image! The Kofa Wilderness in southwestern Arizona is a perfect location as we have beautiful compositions facing east towards the Kofa Mountains and the radiant of the meteor shower, Gemini. This workshop does not include any accommodations or food, however we will be conducting one 2-3 hour editing session during the day of the 13th, as well as including one editing video tutorial custom made that will be sent within one week upon the completion of the workshop.
What you will learn!
Over the course of this workshop my goal is to help you shoot single shots and timelapses of this spectacular event. How to find compelling compositions, optimal camera settings, focusing your camera at night, light painting and more…Getting into tracking and capturing meteors throughout the night and combining them into one single image in photoshop. You will learn tons of post processing techniques this will not only help your meteor shower shots, but directly correlate into how I edit my milky way images as well.
Itinerary Overview
The workshop will begin on Friday December 12th, planning on meeting between 3pm-4pm. It will conclude on the morning of the 14th. There will be a significantly more detailed itinerary sent if you email and ask for it, or once you signup!
Logistics
This workshop everyone is responsible for their own transportation and accommodations. There will be a brief off road portion in which I have ample of space in my car if you do need a ride. In terms of accommodations, there is a town just north of where we will be shooting called Quartzsite where there are cheap hotel options and just about a 20-30min drive from our shooting locations both nights. I will be camping out in Kofa both nights, if you would like to do the same please make sure you have all the equipment necessary. :) The best airport to fly into is either Phoenix (about a two and a half hour drive to Kofa) or Yuma which may be more expensive to fly into, however, it would give you about an hour drive to Kofa.
